Another Space Raider

Football signups were today at 9 a.m.  As you all know the two older boys played each 4 years for the Clear Lake Space Raiders.  Joe and I couldn’t wait for Drew to be old enough to play.  He was too young last year, so we put him with another league last year.  While it was fun, it wasn’t the Raiders.  SOOOOO, I did what I swore I would NEVER do…I spent the night in line to guarantee a spot for him on the team.  I got there about 1:00 this morning and slept on the sidewalk with about 20 other people….It’s madness, but he got his spot…….BUT, not without a little Drama!  You have to weigh at least 50 lbs to play.  He “unofficially” weighed in at 48 lbs.  I took him into the bathroom, gave him my hoodie….picked up all the cell phones I could find and stuffed it in the hoodie pockets.  My digital camera was in his pants, and the HUGE bottle of liquid soap was tucked securely in the hoodie hat!  PRESTO, he instantly gained 4 lbs and made weight!

He brought his baseball coach’s son home to play at our house for the day and they both are thrilled that they will be on the same team.  They suited up and got Joe to “warm” them up!

More Baseball

Don't know what I will blog about when baseball season is over. We lost, AGAIN! Drew continues to field well and hit when he bats...It's really fun to watch him. I have to remind myself that some of the others aren't as coordinated....that's a little frustrating!
Making the plays!

Baseball ready - He plays shortstop most of the game, then First base.

Our big rivals came to Brook tonight to play baseball. It was a great game. Our Head coach got kicked out of the game for "questioning" some of the umps calls. Our Assistant coach took over and led the team to a big victory over the Falcons.

Drew also had a game tonight. They got their hineys kicked....It was fun to go to the Brook game after Drew's game b/c it was Little League night. Drew got to see a few boys he played ball with last year and got to play with Trenton.

Drew and Trenton - He would make a great big brother....but big buddy will have to do!

Catching Up

Last weekend, I swung by New Iberia and picked up my mom and we met my sister and niece in New Orleans for a girl’s weekend.  We bought Wicked tickets at Christmas for my mom and have planned this trip for a while.  It was nice getaway.  It was also French Quarter Fest, so we got to enjoy the culture that is New Orleans!  Loved IT!!

Me and my sweet niece, Lauren

Stephanie talked me into trying a  chargrilled oyster at Dragos….yummy!

When I got home, of course, reality set in….Cheer Tryouts and Baseball……all week!  I survived tryouts and we enjoyed Drew’s game Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening, we went out to dinner to celebrate Joe’s 45th birthday.  To think I’ve been with him since he was 19 is mind boggling!  I hope there is another 45 left in us!

Our best buddies Linda and Mark

Me and the handsome birthday boy!

Sunday, after mass, we did our normal routine and went grocery shopping…Spencer has grown so much and we are so proud of the choices he has made thus far, but it makes me a little sad that he is never around….Sooooooooooooooooo, in order to get pictures of him on my blog, I caught him in the act of working!

Happy Easter – Lazy Day

We enjoyed our day as a family by going to church and boiling crawfish…..That’s it!  Nothing else!  Now we will be getting ready for the coming week.  Joe is going out of town and I’m heading for New Orleans at the end of the week for a girl’s trip.

Life is a Beach

We packed up the truck and headed to Galveston to enjoy the sun while it was out.  I can’t wait for many more days like today.  It was very relaxing.  Spencer wasn’t able to come b/c he has a big project due on Monday for his dual credit class.  We came home to find him asleep with the laptop in his  lap…poor guy!

Always time for a baseball game on the beach!

These faces are going to break some hearts one day!

And what would a day with the Jefferies family be without one of us getting a joked played on them.  When we pulled up to the beach, we saw this huge turtle………..(dead, of course)

Well, as soon as Joe fell asleep, Mitchell and I picked it up with a plastic bag and placed it in front of Joe’s face.  When he woke up…….well, I can’t repeat what he said, but I peed in my pants and the family of 12 mexicans behind us laughed their butts off too and started pointing at him.  I have no idea what they were saying, but I’m pretty sure they were making fun of him like we were!

Here is a picture right before we woke him up!

Never a dull moment!
