He FINALLY cut his hair

I think it looks fantastic.  Hopefully he will keep it short.  Spencer has had a rough week.  A classmate of his passed away last week as a result of his diabetes and Spencer is taking it pretty hard.

I didn’t teach the kid, but knew him to be a wonderful role model for teenagers alike.  May Brian rest in peace.

And Mom, we really haven’t been doing anything blog worthy, so this is the best I got!

Life is Truly a Beach

Well, we are home and we had a Wonderful time!!!  We let the boys bring their friends to Gulf Shores, and I have to say, we were a little scared.  Spencer brought four friends, and Mitchell brought one.  Drew was a trooper and hung with the best of them.

Stephanie and Ike have a time share in Gulf Shores and were generous enough to let us rent it for the week…What a blessing it was!  It was a very nice 3 bedroom 2 bath with a full kitchen.  I cooked a couple nights and the boys cleaned up that food like termites on wood.  We had a great time on the beach.

Joe and I attempted kayaking with Drew and Mitch and it lasted about 30 minutes.  Joe tipped himself over……lost his sunglasses and our adventure was over.

Of course what would a trip to Gulf Shores be without a trip to the Foley outlet mall????  We hit that one day and got Joe and Drew some Sanuk sandals for summer.

It was nice that we brought two cars b/c Spencer and the boys were able to meet my nephew Charlie at night and go out.

It was very enjoyable and we would definitely do it again!

Here, some of the boys are peeing after the long ride on the Atchafalaya bridge!

Great Saturday

After the crappy few weeks I’ve had and getting back from cheer camp, Friday was my first “official” day of summer vacation.  Drew and I ran errands all day on Friday.  Early Friday evening, we took the boat out.  The boys had a blast.

We decided to take it out again today.  Mitchell brought a friend and they enjoyed being in the water.  We met some friends out there and followed them a bit.  It will take some time for us to navigate through some of those canals.

This One Time at Cheer Camp

Well I'm HOME...Thank GOD.  I left early Monday morning for Cheer Camp at Texas A&M.  Liz and I brought two squads, our JV and Varsity.  Our Varsity squad did a phenomenal job, however, they were up against some tough competition and didn't place in any categories.  We did, however receive spirit sticks each night and superior evaluations.  Our JV ROCKED IT.  They got Home Pom camp champs (dance) and Extreme Routine camp champs (dance/stunts). They also received superior evaluations and spirit sticks.  Our Mascot got a superior evaluations and made All American.  We had 5 out of our 10 girls nominated make  All American.

All in All, a good week, just glad it's over....BEACH IN 8 DAYS!!!!

Liz and I being a little gangsta…Well delirious.

June Birthdays

Well, our birthday month has begun. My sister, brother, nephew, and my three boys are all born in June. It's an expensive month.

Tuesday, Drew turned 8 on the 8th (Golden Birthday). It seems like yesterday I took that little guy home. I got to skip cheer camp to give birth....Wasn't that nice of the school to let me out of it? Well, I wasn't as lucky this year. Joe manned the party. Drew had three boys spend the night. They swam and had wars with their airsoft guns. Did I mention that Joe handled it...therefore, no pictures.

Mitchell will be 14 years old on the 14 (Golden Birthday). He worked concessions at a baseball camp, so banked some money...He is waiting on money from Pop and Doucie (hint hint) and he will get stuff for his drums.

Spencer will be 17 years old on the 18th (Almost Golden Birthday). He started a new job and Freebirds Burittos and is loving it. He is still in line at HEB for a promotion.

We will be headed to Gulf Shores (oil or not) on his birthday. He is bringing three boys and Mitch is bringing two....Feel free to donate non perishable food items to this trip.

I love them so much. God has blessed Joe and me with well mannered, smart, and GOOD LOOKING young men.

What a week

I’m sure you guys know that my grandmother has passed.  I will miss her so much…Growing up, she would always have fresh cantaloupe on her table.  She also had fresh tomatoes and cucumbers whenever we visited.  She made a mean roast and rice and gravy.

During her eulogy, my cousin stated she taught us about “lil Jesus”.  I remember her fussing at me saying (and I quote), “Lil Jesus doesn’t want you drowning cats in the ice chest, Gretchen Claire”.  So, I only drowned, that one…ha ha

I know she is now in heaven with her beloved CJ and her parents, and five siblings.  They are all talking about LSU and cajun food and rejoicing that Mae is now with them.  I love you so much, Gammie.

Her beautiful casket and arrangement.

The grand and great grandsons were pall bearers.  I was so proud of my boys.

On a lighter note, it was so nice to visit with my cousins.  We are such a large (Catholic) family.  It’s a shame we don’t see each other more often.  After the service, we went to my Nan Sue’s house to partake in some good old fashion cajun cookin.

After we left my Nan’s house, we headed for Joe’s Daddy’s house.  Pop gave Drew a fishing pole for his birthday and he wanted to try it out on the bayou.

Drew wanted to keep the fish, but it was small, so we threw it back.  He wanted to keep it as a pet.

Here is Drew calling Pop to tell him about his catch.  Grandad feeds the fish food, so the fish were jumping.
