Drew’s Birthday

Drew always gets jipped when it comes to birthday parties.  His birthday always falls when I am at cheer camp.  This year, again, it’s while I’m at cheer camp.  We figured we would let him have his birthday party early b/c of all the end of year goings on (graduation, especially).

His theme….Wrestling of course….We took the King size mattress out of Spencer’s room and that was the ring.  He found my grandmother’s old card table and made an announcer’s table out of it…complete with microphone.

After the “Death Match”, they had a water balloon fight.  A lady in town charges $11 to fill 100 balloons.  I ordered 200 and within less than 5 minutes, they were gone.  They had a blast.  I did get caught in the crossfire though!

Then the best dad in the whole world grilled hotdogs and we sat outside and watched them swim.

I attempted to bake and create a “wrestling ring” cake.  It was ugly, but Drew said it was “good for what I was capable of”…That kid!

After cake, they opened gifts.  As I type, I hear them bouncing off the walls upstairs…They may fall through the ceiling.  The last batch of punch may have a tad of Benadryl in it!

First Communion

Drew made his first communion today.  It was so sweet to see so many little angels on the altar receiving the body and blood of Christ for the first time.  I teared up!  Not sure how I’m going to make it through Spencer’s graduation if this makes me cry!

More Agent Review

One of the agencies that were interested in the boys posted this today on their website.  If you scroll all the way down, you will see two familiar faces!

Happy Anniversary

Little did I know that when I brought my boyfriend lunch to work in the 10th grade, I'd meet the man of my dreams.

Joe and I started dating January 19, 1985...It was Super Bowl Sunday (great day!). I was 16 and he was 19.  We have been together ever since.

We have grown up together...We've bought homes, opened businesses, had three great kids, lost parents, dealt with sick parents, and lost and started jobs.

I can't imagine a better man that I could spend my life with!  Is it easy?  Hell not, but the commitment we made in front of our family, friends, and in the presence of God is what keeps us going!

Happy 23rd anniversary, Jose!  I love you!

Busy Weekend

My mom and dad came in for the weekend to attend Agent Review with the boys.  Dad and Joe hung out with Drew, while Mom, me, and the older boys headed out to downtown Houston.

There were over 50 agents and casting directors there auditioning the talent from their agency.  They auditioned on Saturday and had call backs on Sunday!  Your goal….get a call back!  There were also fashion models there for the weekend…Which brings me to the next story.

As soon as the boys got a look at long legged beauties, they immediately kicked my mom and me out of the hotel.  They DID NOT want us spending the night with them last night, so my mom and I headed back to my house to be with Dad and Joe…I told my mother if the car had been going slower, the boys would have pushed us out to get back to those models.

This morning, there was a brunch and round table discussion.  It was nice to get insight about the industry from the people who know it best.  Mitchell got three call backs and Spencer got two.

Mitchell will be auditioning for a small film that will be shot in Austin.  Keep your fingers crossed!  Two LA agencies and an Austin agency wanted to visit with him.

Spencer will be auditioning for a “webisode”.  He met with a talent agency out of Miami and one out of Las Vegas.  We hope to hear from the Miami agency soon.  She has him in mind for a shoot in Toronto over the summer….Wouldn’t that be fun?

They will also be working with Academy in their commercial print division.

The experience that they have gained has been huge.  Let’s hope it works out for them!

Shopping at the galleria with my Mom!

Second part of the weekend……….I immediately left the boys in Houston and headed out to a fashion show.  Each year our school district puts on a style show and silent auction to raise money.  My principal asked me to model with her.  It was lots of fun!  HOWEVER, the clothes they put us in made me feel like I was at a wedding reception for Steel Magnolias!

Me and my principal!

Happy Mother’s Day - Momma

Before I was myself you made me, me
With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Allowing me to sail upon my sea,
Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me

With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,

And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.

For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.

One Proud Momma!

The boys got their letter jackets today, and of course I made them pose for a picture.  They were less than enthused!

I’m so  proud that they found something they really enjoy and excel in!

They both lettered in wrestling.

It’s customary for the kids to have a nickname, bible verse, or some saying in the tail of their jackets.  Spencer’s says “Sky’s the Limit” .  His friend is a song writer and recorded a song, How High….Sky’s the Limit is a lyric in the song.  Mitchell’s says “Our steps seal fate”, another lyric from a song.   They love their music…like their mom!
