The “Fight”

Joe and I are often asked if Mitchell and Spencer ever fight.  I can honestly say that I don’t recall them getting into a fight since before Drew was born.  They really love each other and have a great relationship.  With that being said, I think they inherited their hard heads from their father (wink wink).

Let me set the scene!  Both boys wanted to go to friends house, but they had to cut the grass first.  Spencer “called” the lawnmower first.  They get home, and Spencer proceeds to make a sandwich.  Mitchell decides to take the lawnmower and start cutting the backyard….After Spencer finishes his sandwich, he proceeds to go and get the lawnmower from Mitchell…..That’s when all hell broke lose and their first fight in 9 years happens.

Cut to the Dr’s office…Mitchell is in a hard cast for 3 weeks.  I’d like to say he got a good piece of Spencer to make the story really worth reading, but my genius punched a door and broke his hand….Door 1 – Mitch 0.

Just to let you both know, neither of them got to go to their friends house that night, Momma - +1!

Fiesta Texas

We decided to take one more trip before school starts.  The Jefferies Group packed up (& Bianca) and headed to San Marcos and San Antonio for a couple days.  Joe and the boys LOVE riding rides. Me, not so much!  That’s where the outlet mall in San Marcos comes in!  That’s my treat for sitting at an amusement park all day!

It’s funny to see how much Drew idolizes the big boys.  Mitchell got some new sunglasses.

So guess who else HAD to have sunglasses!  The boys have also been wearing “muscle shirts” b/c they visit the gym daily…Drew saw the muscle shirt that he is wearing in the picture, and HAD to have it b/c it was like Spence and Mitch.

My sweet sweet Joe loves to watch Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives on the Food network.  He said we were going to visit a place in San Antonio that had been on the show…We pull up and see….YEP, that’s a Carwash/Laundromat/Restaurant.  It did have great hamburgers.  My friend Liz, her mom, and two nieces met us over there, and I was a little embarrassed when we pulled into the parking lot to eat!  Everyone enjoyed their dinner!  Joe did a good job!

We woke up early Thursday and hit the park!

I’d love to say that we got a great family picture, but the second we passed through the gates, Mitch, Spence, & Bianca dropped us like a bad habit!

Me, Joe, Drew

Drew tried at several different games to win something!  He was finally successful with Tasmanian Devil.  I think it’s ironic that he won that b/c I call him that daily!

Drew snapped a shot of Joe and me resting~

I love this picture.  As much as they pick on him, they love their little bro~  He and Spencer look so much alike, it’s like having flashbacks! IMG_3374 IMG_3375

Spencer took Drew on a kiddie ride.  This video is hysterical b/c Drew is about to vomit…Morbid, I know..but hey, it’s our life!

Realizing I had no proof Mitchell actually came with us on the trip, I took this picture!

We left the big kids at the park and went to dinner.  This is what Drew looks like after taking a bite out of a delicious Tiramisu!  He is his father’s son! IMG_3379

A dance of delight!!

I received a text from Bianca saying, “You’ll never believe what Spencer won!”  I was thinking a goldfish or a Pokemon for his brother.  They walked up with this………It is a BIGGER than life Transformer (Bumble Bee to be exact)  He had to run up a rope bridge and ring a bell before he tipped over…It only took him one try and $3!  Look how that thing towers over Drew!

Face Lift

After almost 6 years in the house, I’m taking room by room and doing a deep clean.  My goal is to finish before school starts…DOUBTFUL, but gonna try!

We did Spencer’s room a month or so ago.  Mitchell and Drew already had their rooms painted.  I tackled the gameroom last week and painted it pretty much the same color, just a tad darker.  I’m almost done with the upstairs.

Thursday, I painted the half bath and today I bought some cute little Knick Knacks for it. While I’m sure our guests enjoyed seeing grimy hand prints all over the walls, I was not a fan.  Big Lots rocks for cute, inexpensive decor.

I should have my own design show….I’d call in “CoonAss Creativity”.  Troy Landry better watch out!

Mom, here is the cross you gave me.  Doesn’t it look nice.  Basket ( & TP) from Big Lots…Saddle stool, a cherished memento from Mujer & Grandad’s travels!

Wall hangers…cute, huh!

Finished product!  Shelf from Ikia!  Got my Hurricane cross in there too!

Pool Toys

This is a great time of year to get pool toys on clearance.  I went to get pool shock today and we mopped up on some fun things for next to nothing.  One of them is a remote control car that drives on both land and water.  The second it had batteries in it, Drew was outside tormenting playing with the dogs!

Chip off the OLE BLOCK

Doucie has instilled “potty” humor in my boys.  Her battery operated fart machine gets them every time!  Quite honestly, I think she enjoys it more than they do!

Drew and I went to Big Lots today and he found thissssssssssss….

IMG_0698He screamed, “Mom…I’ve got to have this! I want to trick Doucie!”  So, Doucie, beware….you may get a taste of your own medicine!

I Feel Like….

I have been battling an awful summer cold…Head stuffiness, sinus pressure, and chest congestion!  We left on Sunday for an overnight trip to Austin and I stayed in bed most of the day Sunday and Monday.  I’m getting a little better, if I don’t manage to hack up a lung!

The boys are great!  We are all headed to Fiesta Texas next week.  Joe scored free tickets and we have hotel points, so what a nice final free summer vacation.  And, of course, the boys are bringing an entourage with them!

A Typical Day

Want to know why Joe and I have a weekly grocery bill of over $200?  Look below!

We have lots of mouths to feed and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Thank gosh Joe likes to grill!

Wrestling Camp

Camp started today.  It’s today, tomorrow, and Wednesday.  Both Mitchell and Drew are going.  Drew got there, and go figure, nobody there his size for him to wrestle.  There was, however, a “special” kid there around 15 y/o.  Coach Denny paired Drew up with him and Drew went easy on him!  I also got the “look” as if to say “ixnay on the icturespay”, so I only got two.

On the way back, I let Mitchell drive home.  He is working on getting his permit.  I told him his hands need to be on 10 & 2 at all times.  He then asked, “If both of my hands have to be on the wheel, how am I going to hold my beer and joint?”  I told him only at red lights!

Baby Shower

Joe and I hosted a baby shower for some of our good friends last night.  It was nice to see so many of our friends that we haven’t seen all summer.  We served Lasagna, Fettuccini, Garlic Bread, & Salad.  After looking through the pictures, I realized there aren’t any of me and Joe, but oh well…We were busy!

Here is the table all set up!

A former coworker made the cake for me.  Isn’t it precious?  I made the cute cupcakes.  One of my “former” friends told me they tasted like hotdogs.  I say former b/c I don’t intend on speaking to him anymore, even though I know he speaks the truth!

The best part of the night was the gift that Hollie and Jake gave us.  I need to find the perfect place for it!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!  Doesn’t this have me written all over it?

Nothing Really Blogworthy, But Anyway

Not working during the summer is kinda boring.  I’m the type of person who likes to stay busy.  My school year is jam packed, so when summer hits and I have nothing to do, I go through withdrawals.  My closets are clean, rooms are painted, drawers are straight, pantries, garages, fridges/freezers….all clean!

Drew and I took off to Hancocks Wednesday so that I could make curtains for the kitchen.  I found the exact material that our couch was covered in, so I bought it for our den.  I am 2 1/2 yards short, but they are ordering it for me. Here is what I have so far.

This is what I’ve done in the kitchen.  The picture doesn’t do it justice.  The contrast in materials match a lot better in person.

IMG_3342 Continuing with the Susie Homemaker theme, my sweet friend Hollie is having a baby next month.  Joe and I are hosting a couple’s baby shower tomorrow night.  I’m going to be cooking a good feast with lots of goodies.  Here is my attempt at creativity.  I saw a picture on the Internet of these and tried to copy it!  I did, however, order a cake, just in case they don’t taste good.  My kids don’t have much faith in my baking ability. (They are right!)

IMG_3340The rest of them are just chocolate with brown sugar pecans and the other is toffee.  I’ll post pictures of the shower later.  Other than that, that’s all I got!
