New Year’s Resolutions

Yes, I’m cheating…I googled some ideas for NY resolutions.  Here are some I am pondering.  In no particular order!

1  Listen to music regularly – Music is a calming force to me.  I need that!

2  Think beyond the given conditions and the present – My parents call this making chicken salad out of chicken sh!t

3  Drink more.....WATER – Actually on day two of this goal!

4  Accept your flaws – This should be easy, I don’t have any :)

5  Print Coupons  - My friend, Stacy, will help me with this one.

6  Call friends – Mainly Tressie and Keri.  Life gets in the way of our friendship!

7  Don’t worry so much – This one is a doozie…I’m a worrier.  I worry about EVERYTHING.  I worry about what I’m going to worry about!  Is that a middle child thing?  Joe is my saving grace when it comes to worrying.  All I need to hear is for him to say “It’s going to be fine!”

8  Save Money – We are  on a great start to this.  It’s such a great feeling getting rid of that big ole house!

9  Stay Happy – When I feel homesick, screw it…I’m going home!  I don’t care if it’s in the middle of Homecoming or Cheer tryouts!

10  Tame the Bulge – Also on day two of eating breakfast, exercising, and low carb diet!  Summer will be biting us before we know it!

11  Enjoy the moment – I blinked and Spencer graduated.  Mitchell is knocking on that door.  Not sure what we will do as empty nesters!

What’s Funnier….

Than feeding your dog peanut butter?  Ummmm NOTHING!

Drew gives Roux a big mouthful of peanut butter then Roux spends about 3 minutes licking, licking, and licking it up!  Yes, I know…this is not blog worthy, but it’s still funny…to us!

Random Phone Pictures

Every so often, I like to go back into the Photo Album and look at the pictures I took with my phone and figure out what I was thinking when I took the pictures!

Christmas Eve

My Mom and Dad started this tradition years ago with us going to mass on Christmas Eve and coming back to open gifts.  My kids wait all day long to open their presents.  Drew begged to leave right after communion to get our party started.

Drew got a play station, guitar,  and soccer goals.  Mitchell got two guitars.  Spencer got a trip to New York for New Year’s Eve.  Santa is broke, but will manage to drop a few presents later tonight.

Joe and I didn’t exchange much between us b/c we are getting the house in order, but he bought me an awesome sweater from Express, and I got him a couple Tommy Bahama shirts.

We will miss spending the day tomorrow with all the Porche and Jefferies families.  We love and miss you.

Before Church!

Gingerbread House (Katrina version)

So we aren’t the most talented when it comes to putting together a stupid stupid Gingerbread House, but we had fun.  Joe even tried to “help” us!  It really looks awful, but I guess tastes just as good as the pretty one on the stupid box!

Drew is already trying to give it to the dogs!

That would be the outline of the windows….well it’s supposed to be anyway!

New House

I know you guys (family) have been waiting for pictures, but we just got Internet service today.  We are so happy to be settling in our new home.  We look forward to many years to come in this great house.

A night with the Fontenots!

Joe and I love hanging out with the Fontenots.  Joel is from North Baton Rouge, so we feel so comfortable around them.  We went to the boat parade last week and it was too crowded, so we ended up eating and hanging out.  They also helped us christen our new house with a grilling party the following week.

Joe started up the bar-b-q pit and we tested out the deck at the new house.  Joel helped me hook up the outside TV.  I foresee many fun times ahead out there.

The Fab Four

My buddies Matt and Doug taught at Clear Brook a few years ago.  They both left the teaching field and I miss my adoptive little brothers!  Doug  moved to Baton Rouge and came to Houston for the Holidays, so Liz and I went to meet them to visit and catch up!

DSC_0751 DSC_0731

Matt and Doug are pretty good dancers, so they challenged Liz to a dance off!  They asked me to join in and I declined.  Liz busted out in her splits and I told them I could stand on my hand.  They did not believe that I could do it…not at 43!  So with a bottle(abita beer) of liquid courage, I proved those youngins wrong!

Don’t they look impressed?

DSC_0770

Matt totally won the dance off…even in his elf sweatshirt his mother painted for him!
