Drew Drew Drew

He is still into wrestling and loves to rough house. With two big brothers, how could he avoid it?

He wanted a pair of Rey Mysterio (a wrestler) pants to match his mask. Problem was, they were $75. The words of my father came out of my mouth when he asked! "Drew, you outta ya gat damn mind!". How many times have I heard that growing up!

I decided to buy a pattern and may the pants my own darn self! Drew, aka, Mysterio, is jumping off the furniture as I type!

My sick little puppy

Saturday morning Joe and I noticed Beignet just didn’t look right.  He was limping and his right leg was dragging a bit.  We were in a rush (as always) to get Drew to his soccer game, so we just kenneled him up and went on about our day.  When we got home, he looked awful.  He wasn’t walking and was very lethargic.  I took him to the Animal hospital and waited for four hours.

My hyper little pup sat in my lap and didn’t move.  He was in so much pain.  Let me back up a few months……Joe has witness a few “episodes” where Beignet has had some mild seizures.  I witnessed one about two years ago, but haven’t seen one since.  Now they are happening about twice a week.  We were worried if that was causing the limp.

The vet told me that he has two problems.  First, a slipped disc in his back.  That is what is causing the pain and the limp.  He hunches his back to compensate the pain.  The second problem is that the seizures are causing neurological damage.  He is no longer able to jump up on the couch like he used to.  We have him on muscle relaxers, steroids, and a pain reliever.  We won’t do surgery, so we are trying to keep him comfortable.

It makes me so sad.  I will be taking him to our regular vet to get a course of action and see if putting him down is an option of if he has quality of life left living with the seizures.

Yesterday afternoon, he suffered two really bad ones.  The first one, I tried to film, but freaked out and only got one second of it.  You can see him jerk a bit.

This is the second one.  He came into the house still a little out of it.  He had another one.  You can see he can really move.  We try to call him, but he his zoned out.

I’ll keep you all posted on my little donut!  I’ve had cockers all my life and have had horrible luck!  Liver disease, eye removal, breast cancer, now this!  Praise Jesus my children are healthy!  And stupid mutt Roux is healthy as a horse!

Spring Show

I knew it wouldn’t be long before I found something new to do after giving up cheer.  The dance team sponsor asked if I would put together a commercial for her annual spring show.  It was so much fun to follow the kids around as they practiced their dances.  The parents participate in a dad/daughter dance and it was so funny to watch them practice.  The senior boys also have a dance that was hysterical to watch.  Below……my first movie trailer…iMovie is the best!

A new place to call home

Our new church building is officially open now and it's beautiful. I must admit I didn't pay much attention to the homily today because I was awestruck.

Father Skip told the congregation we had two weeks to "claim our territory" as far as seating was concerned so Joe and I were trying to decide which spot we wanted!

They modeled the church out of Our Lady of LaSallette church in France. It's attention to detail makes me so proud to be Catholic, down to the marble Beatitudes down the aisles, to the stations of the cross around the church. The pictures I took simply don't do it justice.

There is a huge painting on the altar of people in a field with Jesus. What I found out today, was that a photographer took the picture and those people are members of our parish. The picture was sent to an artist in France and is now the focal part of the altar.

Ok enough descriptions, enjoy

Hey Daddy

What the heck was I thinking. They are out of control!

More about Mitch

Students in Texas are required to take a Fine Arts credit.  I think this is a stupid rule b/c they aren’t “required” to take a Technology course when technology, I think, is so much more valuable than fine arts.  As a way to “boycott” the Fine Arts department, I enrolled him in Floral Design.  It’s a course that is taught in my department.  I have a great teacher who is VERY patient with Mitchell.  He is NOT interested in creating floral arrangements, but he is getting his credit needed for graduation, and my department is receiving funding for having him enrolled !  haha

I received this pretty arrangement on my desk this morning, courtesy of my little Mitchy!  I don’t know how long it took him to do it, and I’m not going to ask!

This house is Quackers!

It’s so much fun to go outside in the afternoon and feed the ducks.  We have a pond across the street from our house and we have lots of ducklings.  They LOVE graham crackers.  They actually love anything you give them.

This is what happens when we try to go  inside…They follow us.  It seems like only a couple weeks ago they were little bitty yellow babies.

Mitch the Engineer

As a department head, I have the opportunity to visit all the good things that happen at Clear Brook.  One of the most exciting things that we have on our campus is a pre-engineering program called Project Lead the Way.  It’s a Nationally Accredited Engineering Program.  The upper level courses allow students to receive advanced placement credit.  Mitchell is  in his 2nd year.  Currently, he is taking Principles of Engineering.

I will be joining the PLTW team next year and will teach Introduction to Engineering.  I will be taking another certification test this summer and will also be spending two weeks in Tyler, Texas for extensive training.

Our lab is really nice.  His teacher had each of his kids paint a self-portrait of the kids dreaming.  They had to dream about something electronic.  Mitchell drew this rendition of himself.  What you see on his head is a Mohawk, not a Yakama.  The mural is not finished, but I think he did a great job.

They also painted the PLTW logo on the wall.

They are working on programming circuits and I caught some of his lesson today, so I videotaped it like any proud mom would do!

Easter Weekend

We had an eventful weekend. Friday, we did yard work and I went to a friend's son's birthday party. Saturday we did more of the same and then headed over to our friends house for crawfish. The crawfish was great, but the company was better!

Sunday at lunch Drew tells us he no longer believes in the Easter bunny. We ask why not and he tells us it's because he doesn't think the Easter bunny would by candy at Big Lots. That's something that mom does! I guess he has it all figured out!

Veggie Tales/Brag on Joe/Soccer/Golf

Joe and I have been taking such good care of our garden.  I went out there to check on my babies this morning and it seems like the tomato plants grew overnight.  I almost teared up when I saw a flower blooming!!!  I know my maters are comin ya’ll!

A coach from school told me he planted 8 plants this year and feared he had planted too many.  When he said 8, my eyes got really big. I told him I planted 40!  I guess I will be feeding my neighborhood tomatoes this summer!

My cucumbers are looking good too!  I planted some of them from seeds and they are sprouting.  Some of them are starting to vine out…I’m soooo excited!

Joe spent the last few days in Orlando at his annual sales conference.  He was awarded 2nd in the company for % of increase in business.  He received a nice little bonus.  That’s more tomato plants!  Me and the boys are so proud of our papa Joe!  He’s such a great salesman and even better provider/husband/father.

While Joe was schmoozing with the big wigs, I took Drew to his soccer game.  His team won 3-2.  He scored one goal (almost 2).

My little team captain!

It was very hard to video and watch at the same time.  Soccer is hard to follow and I don’t understand the game.  I do know Drew is fast and scores alot, so I guess that’s all I care about.

Sunday afternoon, we headed to the Houston Shell open with our great friends, Brooke & Joel.  Joe was so excited to get to follow the pros.  I was excited to walk around in the sun and soak up some Vitamin D

Guess who has raccoon eyes?  I guess this will be what I look like for the remainder of the year b/c I love to be outside and never go anywhere without my sunglasses.  I guess I’ll have to wear a little powder!

It was exciting to see Phil Mickelson.  We weren’t supposed to take pictures at all, so these aren’t great and I had to sneak them.

We walked so much, but when I have a camera in my hand, there is always time for a snapshot (and a cold drink).

Me &  Brooke!

Joe looks a lot more excited than Joel
