Are you smarter than a 5th grader?

I had three very happy kids today! Spencer was talking out of both sides of his mouth today. He's super excited about this semester. Mitch has REALLY good teachers and started dual credit at San Jac. Drew LOVES his teachers!
My schedule sucks! I'm hoping this year is better than my first day! It was, however, nice to come home after school instead of staying for cheer practice. I joined the church choir and we had our first practice tonight. I'll need to keep songs in my heart to get through this year!
Joe hits the road tomorrow! We are on the Geaux!
Praying for our families as they weather the hurricane!

Busy weekend

Drew had another tournament this weekend. We headed to north Houston for two days of soccer. I'm not sure how many more tournaments Joe and I can handle. We are gone All day on Saturday, and depending on wins, half day on Sunday. We didn't go today bc we think Drew broke his toe.
Yesterday they lost both games. Our team has just formed, so they are just learning how to play together. We are up against teams that stay together throughout the year and play year round. We got our butts whipped in the first game 7-0. We lost the second game 2-1. Drew scored the only goal of the day.

What a great set of parents me, my sis, and bro have. Their faith and devotion to each other is what every one should strive for in a marriage.
Happy 48 years. The Jefferies' love you!

Catching up

I have been back at work the last couple weeks. The older boys went to visit some friends in Dallas before school starts.

Joe has been on the road, as usual, and has had record sales months. That means bonus checks, which means college tuition is not as bad as I thought it would be!

Spencer will be going to the local Jr. College this semester. He has FINALLY decided what he wants to do! He will major in audio engineering. San Jac offers a two year degree. He wants to complete that, then transfer to Tx State to finish up the bachelors program. His hope is to have Mitch design the buildings and he can design the acoustics. I don't ever see them moving far away from each other. They truly are best friends.

Mitch is a JUNIOR in high school. He will be driving himself to school this year. While I will miss our morning philosophical talks, I'll enjoy not being his taxi driver. He is also enrolled at the Jr. college taking dual enrollment classes. Hopefully, like Spence, he will start college with 24 credit hours under his belt.

Drew's soccer season is in full force. We spent last weekend in the Woodlands, and will spend next weekend in Spring (north Houston). His team isn't that great yet, but they are making strides.

Look for my next post some time in November when I catch a break!!

Enjoy these pics from the weekend. Joe and I are so proud of our boys!

I stole this from my sister’s facebook.  Isn’t it funny?

A couple Saturdays ago, Joe and I took Drew to Galveston to fish.  I enjoyed the sun and Joe and Drew fished in the surf.  We met up with a friend of mine from school.  She had both her kiddos with her, so Joe ended up fishing with all of them while Cristina and I visited.

This is Maggie.  She caught a small catfish, but was intent on taking it home and keeping it as a pet.  She, however, didn’t want to touch the bait or the fish.  Drew was a big help to her.

Mr. Cool

Joe wants to get his own fishing pole.  They enjoyed it so much.  We will need to find other places to go and fish.

Off topic and random.  Whenever I park in a parking garage, I started taking a picture of where I parked so I don’t forget….You should try it!

Joe and I took Drew to see Batman.  While we were in the restroom, I saw these cardboard cutouts and told Drew to jump in for a Photo Op.  He was a little nervous that we would get kicked out of the theater.  He kept saying, “Mom, you are crazy!”, but we laughed so hard when we saw the images!  A few bystanders were laughing at/with us too!

You would think by reading this blog that Mitchell and Spencer no longer live with us.  Truth is they are never here much!  Spencer is in summer school and works a lot!  Mitchell just got his driver’s license AND A FREAKN GIRLFRIEND, so he’s been gone too.

There’s no place like home

It’s so much fun to go home.  I love sleeping in my old bedroom.  I love that Drew soaks up the Cajun atmosphere more and more.  He was adamant about my mom teaching him some Cajun French.  He is now calling his brothers “Hard headed jackasses”, but hey, he’s bi-lingual…Thanks Doucie!

My mom and I shopped, we got snowballs, I went to lunch with my high school friends, and we went out to eat as a family (minus Stephanie and the husbands).

We even had arts and crafts day!  I wanted to decorate some pink flamingos for my classroom.  My mom and I went to three Dollar Generals and called five more (There are 8 in the NI, Abbeville, Jeanerette, Loureauville area for all those who wondered!)  We were successful in Lydia and found what we needed!

Aren’t they cute!!!

Drew also enjoyed lots of time with Ashlynn

Here is the pic of the most wonderful friends a girl could ask for!  I’m so glad our 1 hr lunch date ended up being 3 1/2 hours long.  We still had stuff to say and didn’t want to leave!  I  miss those girls so much.  I wish we lived closer and it’s depressing to come back to Texas every time I spend good quality time with family and friends!

Wednesday night we went out to eat at Shucks in Abbeville.  Drew got to try Alligator for the first time.

There is a room in the back of the restaurant where you can watch them shuck oysters through a glass window.  The owner of the restaurant invited Drew and me into the room.  He showed Drew how to shuck them, gave us a few oysters right out of the sack!  YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY.  Drew gagged his right up.  The owner of the restaurant said he was proud of him for trying it!

Now, what’s more funny than your 70 year old Mom boxing with your 10 year old?  Probably nothing! She did get a few good licks in!

I even got to go to dinner with my in laws.  It was so nice catching up with them.  My nieces and nephews are all getting their acts together and becoming such great young adults.  My bonus Mother in Law gave me a beautiful stained glass Fleur De Lis….It’s hanging in my kitchen already Junelle!  Thanks!

I guess the next time I go home will be for an LSU game.  It was a great visit.

Extreme Makeover

We are finally done with the floors in the house!!!! Over the last few weeks, our kitchen got a complete makeover with new tile floors and freshly redone cabinets. We ripped all the carpet out of the house and replaced it with new wood flooring. We also replaced the nasty 11 year old carpet in the bedrooms. It smells like a new house!
