I got this!

Earlier during the week, one of my Ag teachers told me a parent had crawfish he HAD to get rid of.  Over our conversation, we planned a quick department crawfish boil on a random Wednesday night bc the crawfish was going to go bad.  Everybody was in for a party, weeeelllll except Joe.  I promised my teachers he would boil the crawfish, not realizing he would be in Dallas!  I boiled 105 pounds of crawfish for my department and they were awesome.  The only problem I had with the night was that the majority of these people were all Aggies!  We had a great time anyway.  I think we will have to make it an annual thing!

I had JT helping me with the lifting…I think he can boil his own now.

I’m so lucky to have these women in my life!  Linda and Kim are blessings to me!

Even though he’s not in my department, I would never dream of not having Brooke and Joel over for Crawfish!

Mitchell Mitchell Mitchell

There is this new “thing” that the kids are doing called the Harlem shake.  The wrestling team decided to make a video about it this morning and post it on YouTube.  I found out about it when one of my students told me to go look at it.  To my surprise, I see my shy, quiet son – MITCHELL, shaking it!

(He’s the long, skinny one on the right!…enjoy)  If he ever fusses at me again for embarrassing him, I will mention this video!

Drew’s Turn

Drew started wrestling at the same competitive gym that Mitchell takes privates from.  His coach wants him to start competing with his teams.  He is really impressed with Drew’s strength for his mighty size.  I guess having big brothers beating on you helps!  Well his first tournament is next week in New Orleans.  I will already be home for my dad’s surgery, so we will head over to the Big Easy for the day to watch him compete!  He’s so pumped to have gotten his singlet!  The coach told him to wear it during practice yesterday to “get comfortable”!  I’m excited b/c there are a few tournaments in Lafayette that we will be able to attend!

After their practice they do a little “live” wrestling drill.  I was able to tape a bit!

Mardi Gras–Sort Of

Well, it’s not celebrating the beginning of the Lenten season like I was raised, but it was fun in spite of  being in Texas.

We went to a Mardi Gras bash with an 80’s cover band.  Joe and I sponsored a table with our principal and some friends and had great seats/drinks/food.  The weather was a little yucky, but that made it all the more fun!

REGIONALS

We are in the middle of the regional wrestling tournament. Today, Mitch finished 3-1. He wrestles in the morning. If he wins, he wrestles for 3rd or 4th place and goes to state either way. If he loses, he gets a chance to wrestle once again for 5th and challenge the 4th place winner. It's complicated, so just pray he wins!!
Here are links to his matches! Enjoy!

District Runner Up

We are so proud of this kid! He placed 2nd in district this year and will advance to the regional tournament next week. Joe and I took Friday off to watch him and my nerves were frazzled! Not sure how I'm going to be able to handle watching even tougher competition at regionals!

First of many

If we have to bribe our kids with crawfish to stay home and eat with us, so be it! Seems like the season is starting early this year. They were a good size and, as always, Joe cooked them to perfection! We have decided to have them at least three times a month!
